Welcome to mattbradford.com. Because this site bears my name, this home page is actually an "about me" page. Various major themes of my life are detailled above if any strike a particular interest to you.

I am a Pentecostal Christian, and attend Brisbane City Church on a regular basis. My faith is a very crucial part of my life. I enjoy the company of my friends - whether it be over dinner, out for coffee, or just out in the street. I think people underestimate the value of people and the richness they can contribute to one's life; and not just that, but the incredible privilege one can have in speaking into the lives of those closest to oneself. I am an activist for good Christian discipleship; It's the true friends who build you up, who correct you when you need it, and help you out when you're stuck in a rut. I wouldn't trade my friends for the world.

Apart from the spiritual, social and work aspect of church, I am also heavily involved in the production area of our creative ministry, which has me involved in Sunday services and in our Youth ministry. Music and sound plays a large role in my life; I'm a very aural person. I listen to most styles of music except for Country, Opera and R&B, although elements of R&B have crept into my collection. All-time favorite music is Dance/Trance and other Hi-NRG types of music, but I also listen to Pop-Rock and Alternative Rock, Grunge, Classical, Old-Skool Big Band-style, and Emo. Flavour of the month right now is Chill music, and soft Jazz.

As far as my work goes, I am currently the IT Manager for my Church, located in sunny Brisbane, Australia. My job consists of many roles, ranging from Systems Admin to Network Admin, DB Admin, Web Development and Support. Previously I was a Lab Manager for the Information Security Institute at the Queensland University of Technology, where I managed two sites of networks. Most servers ran OpenBSD, my server OS of choice.

I do a fair bit of web development on the side, being the webmaster for my place of employment, and also for this site as you can see. I choose to run PHP and MySQL for most of this work, and occasionally Perl if the need requires. I also love writing Unix scripts in Bash and Perl to generate things such as usage monitors, email reports and automated system management. Some of these are available in the SysAdm section above.

I've aquired a taste for skiing, even though there's no snow in Brisbane. My last trip to Queenstown, New Zealand exposed me to The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. Although absolutely hammered by the end of our week away, I would gladly do it again. That, and my trip to Europe has develped my desire to travel, to see other cultures. I'm still in love with Europe, and would like to return soon.

I like to paint. Although I haven't done it for a while, I do enjoy sitting down with a blank canvas and some soothing music. Having also aquired a Digital Camera, I also enjoy taking photos, a lot of which I've published some in the Gallery section.
