What is OpenMOSIX?
OpenMosix is a Linux kernel extension for single-system image clustering which turns a network of ordinary computers into a supercomputer.
Current Specs:
Hardware:
- 1 x Dell Dimension 8100 (Head node)
- 18 x Intel P4 2.6GHz w/ 1.0GB RAM (Processing Nodes)
- 1 x BayStack 350 10/100Mbps switch
Software:
- Fedora Core 1 w/ AD Authentication & SMB home directory mounting (Head node)
For PXE Boot:
- TFTP Server
- DHCP Server
- NFS Server
- Cluster-Knoppix 3.3 (for processing nodes) Distributed via PXE
- All nodes running OpenMOSIX kernel 2.4.24
